Former Burnley FC manager Owen Coyle returns to Turf Moor with trouble expected.

The Scot outraged Burnley fans when he jumped ship for neighbours Wanderers in January.

The Clarets have confirmed they have approached the local police to help stewards control what may be a volatile crowd.

Coyle returns to Turf Moor tomorrow night for his side’s third round Carling Cup tie.

A Burnley FC spokesman said: "The club is in talks with the police regarding policing and stewarding appropriate for the event.

"A plan will be in place."
