According to reports Wigan Athletic are interested in a last-minute deal for Portsmouth FC hitman David Nugent.

Sky Sports News claims Latics boss Roberto Martinez is prepared to sign the Pompey forward before the end of the transfer window.

The 25-year-old forward has been strongly linked with a move away from Fratton Park this summer and has been tipped to leave the struggling Championship club.

Premier League side Blackpool have already made an enquiry and the Latics look set to join them.

However, it is understood that Pompey are loathe to let him go due to their shortage of players.
