According to reports Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is running the risk of failing to land Chelsea FC hitman Franco di Santo.

Martinez laid the foundations of a deal for the young Argentine believing Charles N’Zobdia was on his way to Birmingham City.

However, the unexpected events that unfolded at St Andrews have thrown his transfer plans into turmoil as the incoming funds have not materialised.

The Latics originally wanted Di Santo on loan but they had to use up their second temporary deal for Manchester United youngster Tom Cleverley.

Consequently, unless Martinez can seal a permanent deal for current Bolton Wanderers loanee Ali Al-Habsi, then the di santo move is dead.
