Wigan Athletic set to beat Bolton Wanderers and Newcastle United to Manchester United winger

According to reports Wigan Athletic have emerged as favourites to sign Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley on loan.

For some time it was expected that the 21-year old would move to either Bolton Wanderers or Newcastle United.

However, it now appears Cleverley is set to join up with Roberto Martinez at the DW Stadium.

Cleverley signed a three-year deal with United earlier this summer and manager Sir Alex Ferguson is keen for him to continue his development away from Old Trafford in a first team environment.
