Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish has hit out publicly against Charles N'Zogbia over the Wigan Athletic winger's increased demands after the two clubs had agreed a fee last week.
The Sunday Mirror claims McLeish had agreed a a club record £9 million deal with the Latics and it only seemed a matter of sorting out the 24-year-old’s personal terms.
However, while the Scot believed he had agreed a weekly wage of £40,000, it seems N’Zogbia wanted £10,000 more, much to the amazement of his club and his own agent.
City pulled the plug on the deal and it now seems that N’Zogbia will remain at the DW Stadium on less than he would have earned at St Andrews.
A club insider revealed: “We’ve made it quite clear that even if the player came back and dropped his demands the deal is dead.
“We are trying to build a club of people who are committed to the cause and this was completely out of line.”
