Wigan Athletic have a tough assignment in prospect as they look to get their Premier League campaign going at Tottenham Hotspur.

They face a Spurs side in fine fettle after qualifying for the group stages of the Champions League on Wednesday and previously securing a tough win away at Stoke City.

This is not the kind of game a struggling side like Wigan needs to try and instil some confidence but the statistics are stacked against them.

They were humiliated 9-1 at White Hart Lane last season, and they have won just one of their eleven meetings with Spurs in all competitions.

They currently prop up the Premier League table having shipped ten goals in their opening two games and not scored a goal.

Wigan’s Victor Moses will miss the trip after damaging ankle ligaments in his side's midweek Carling Cup victory over Hartlepool.

Steven Caldwell is set to make his Premier League debut but his brother Gary remains sidelined following hip surgery.

Possible Wigan line-up: Kirkland, Gohouri, Alcaraz, Caldwell, Figueroa, McCarthy, Thomas, Diame, Gomez, Boselli, Rodallega.
