Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is delighted to have signed Ali Al Habsi on loan from Bolton Wanderers.
Martinez is convinced the 28-year-old keeper can keep No 1 Chris Kirkland on his toes through the coming campaign.
The Spaniard said: "We need competition in every department, and Ali will certainly do that.
"He has a terrific attitude to the game and after four years in England knows all about the Premier League. We are delighted to welcome him on board."
The Muscat-born keeper first made his name in Europe at Lyn Oslo in Norway, and has appeared 70 times for his country.
