Wigan Athletic have signed Bolton Wanderers’ second-choice goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi on a season-long loan deal.

The Oman international joined Bolton in 2006 but has struggled to break into the starting line-up due to the form of first-choice keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.

The Whites have now confirmed Al-Habsi will join the Latics as cover for Chris Kirkland after Richard Kingson and Vladimir Stojkovic were allowed to leave.

Al-Habsi has made just 10 appearances for Bolton in his time at the Reebok and boss Owen Coyle has allowed him to move on.

Ridiculous decision by Bolton especially if there is not a recall clause. What happens if Jussi is injured or sent off?? Al should be no.1!
