It is reported that Wigan Athletic’s hopes of signing Hamilton youngster James McArthur are disappearing.

McArthur is hoping to hook up with his former team-mate James McCarthy who joined the Latics last season.

However, the Glasgow Evening Times claims that dream is fading fast as Accies chairman Ronnie MacDonald is unhappy that the Latics have yet to lodge a formal bid.

Latics boss Roberto Martinez took the youngster on trial in March but nothing has materialised as yet in terms of a concrete bid although there was talk of a £1 million offer being prepared.

However, Martinez has stalled on the deal and it is now believed that Leeds United are ready to step in with a £750,000 bid.
