According to reports Wigan Athletic are still keen on bringing Hamilton midfielder James McArthur to the DW Stadium.

The Wigan Evening Post says Latics’s interest has not waned in the light of challenges from other clubs, although they have yet to submit a formal bid.

The highly-regarded 22-year-old was widely expected to follow his former Accies team-mate James McCarthy to the DW.

However, the move has been called into question since the Accies received rival interest from a host of clubs including Leeds, Cardiff, Birmingham and Rangers.

McArthur’s agent, Willie McKay, said: “Wigan have met him, but no-one has made a formal bid as yet.”
