Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has no doubts that Charles N'Zogbia will choose England over France if given the opportunity.
N'Zogbia wants to play for England, despite being capped at youth level by France.
Martinez said: "I asked Charles the other day about England and he said he was hoping. I think he is definitely open to playing for England.
"I thought he wanted to play for France but he's been living in England so long now he's ready to represent whichever country asks him. He's only 23 and hasn't peaked yet - he's certainly got the potential to get into the England squad.
"Charles is a left-footed player playing on the right side and is a great option for any squad. He relies on his streetwise ability. He's very tactically aware.
"Leighton Baines is proving that you don't need size to play left-back, but I think Charlie has a lot more to offer in the last third than in the defensive third."
