It is reported that Birmingham City defender Liam Ridgewell is facing a ban for the tackle he made on Wigan Athletic starlet James McCarthy.

The Daily Mail claims Ridgewell is facing an FA charge and a three-match ban over the challenge that floored McCarthy and led to a linesman being injured during Saturday’s game against Wigan at St Andrew’s.

Retrospective action for reckless tackles has become rare this season on the grounds that referees had seen the offences at the time.

But Ridgewell, 25, could prove an exception after it emerged yesterday that referee Anthony Taylor may have missed Ridgewell’s touchline lunge on James McCarthy during Birmingham’s 1-0 win.

Your a bit late with you info! The FA said yesterday that there will be no charge! The art of defending is obviously a man's game! Get real!
