Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez has insisted he will introduce Victor Moses to the Premier League until he is ready.
With Wigan just a point above the bottom three heading into tonight's crucial derby with fellow strugglers Bolton, there is temptation to hand him a first start - but Martinez is likely to hold him back.
Martinez said: "I will never push a player to be on the pitch when he is not ready.
"It is a big jump coming from the Championship to the Premier League. It is down to individuals how they can adapt to that.
"It is not a computer game, you don't buy a player to put him straight in.
"You have to make sure the player is mentally and physically capable of being himself on the pitch.
"That takes a bit of time and we are going to give him the time he needs.
"But coming from abroad to the Premier League is probably a bigger jump. He played in the Championship and there are many similarities, so he has that advantage.
"The other advantage is he relies on his talent.
"If you rely on your physicality sometimes you need a little bit of time to adapt to it - but Victor is a special, special talent and we will all enjoy him."
