Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez reckons little can be gleaned from the current Premier League positions.
Martinez's side let a precious lead slip against Stoke at the DW Stadium on Tuesday night finally drawing 1-1.
But due to other results the Latics are now in 14th place, a point and two places further away from the relegation zone.
Martinez said: "I'm not looking at the table now.
"It's such a tight table that you could be in 11th position and feeling that you have got a bit of breathing space, but if you drop your standards you could really, really get punished.
"I feel that there were many positives but on the other side, there are many things that we need to do better.
"I can see many good things that we did at Sunderland (in their previous match) and we followed it up, so I'm pleased with that.
"If we carry on with that level of performance in the last third of the campaign, we will get the rewards that we need."
