Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez praised his side's character after they drew 1-1 at home to Stoke City.
The Spaniard is hoping the result will be a springboard for the next run of games
He told Sky Sports: "The first half was completely different to the first one I think.
"We controlled the game in the first half, we created a couple of chances, we got the lead which is always the hard thing to do.
"But Stoke put a lot of pressure (on us) in the second half, they pressed us high up and probably the pitch started to cut up and it made things very, very difficult and it is always scoring that second goal, it is always the only way that you can kill the game.
"So, overall very pleased with the character that we have shown."
He was especially pleased with his side's defensive display and believed it was another performance full of positives.
"When you get something to lose in football it brings that anxiety and you could feel that around the stadium so the reaction that we had to finish with a draw it was very pleasing," he said.
"It is a platform full of character that will allow us to move on into the next games."
