Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez believes midfielder Mohamed Diame has improved immeasurably since joining in the summer and is only set to improve.
Diame scored his first goal in English football with a thunderbolt at the Stadium of Light to earn his side a 1-1 draw with Sunderland.
Martinez believes 22-year-old Diame will be a linchpin of the Lactics' side during the second half of the season.
He said: "The Premier League, in that area, is full of athletes and the tempo is high and Momo has picked up that quick and it has been a pleasure to watch.
"Now he has scored his first goal and he is slowly fulfilling his potential and is peaking and that is a great positive but he is still a young man and there is more to come."
