Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez has been unable to prise midfielder Leon Britton from Swansea City.
They rejected a £1 million offer from Martinez who was Britton’s manager when at the Liberty Stadium helm.
"There was serious interest in Leon," revealed Swans chairman Huw Jenkins.
"But we resisted the temptation, taking into account the high value we place on the players as individuals in the squad."
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is an admirer of Britton and wanted the 27-year-old playmaker to follow him to the Premier League and the DW Stadium.
However, his deadline-day enquiry did not pay-off.
