Wigan boss Roberto Martinez admits his side were not consistent enough in their 2-1 loss at Blackburn Rovers.

The Latics fell behind to a Morten Gamst Pedersen strike before new boy Gary Caldwell levelled up the score.

However, Latics allowed Niko Kalinic to head the winner with a free header.

Martinez was at a loss to explain how his side failed to secure at least a point after they equalised.

He said: "Our first-half performance wasn't good enough. We weren't ourselves at all, and we couldn't understand what was needed.

"We made a few adjustments at half-time, and I was delighted with the reaction because we controlled the game and imposed ourselves more.

"You could feel after we scored we were going to be the team to win it, so to lose the game the way we did with a free header and lapse of concentration is very hard to take."

The defeat means Wigan are now just two points above the relegation zone.
