It is reported that Villarreal striker Marco Ruben has failed to agree terms with Wigan Athletic.
The Argentine forward is set to remain with his Spanish Liga club after personal terms could not be agreed with the Premiership club.
A statement on the Villarreal website read: "The attacker has not come to a definitive agreement with Wigan Athletic and therefore remains under the command of Juan Carlos Garrido."
It was understood that the forward was in England to simply tie up the loose ends on a deal to take him to the DW Stadium.
However, it seems the club and the player could not reach an agreement.
