It is reported that Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has agreed a deal with Wigan Athletic for full-back Maynor Figueroa.

The News of the World claims Latics boss Roberto Martinez has finally been convinced by Bruce to part with his prized asset.

It was Bruce who brought the 26-year-old Honduran to England when he was in charge at Wigan and he has been looking to bring him to the Stadium of Light ever since he left Wigan for Sunderland in the summer.

Figueroa himself seemed keen to hook up with his old boss and the two clubs have finally agreed a £6million fee after Sunderland had two lesser bids turned down.

It is not the first time Bruce has raided his old club, Lee Cattermole having moved to the North East in the summer.
