Wigan host Sunderland this weekend hoping to erase the memory of last weekend’s humiliation at the hands of Tottenham.
It is also the first time Steve Bruce has returned to his former club after leaving for Wearside in the summer.
Wigan boss Martinez has no fresh injury concerns and is likely to start with the majority of the side that capitulated so spectacularly to Spurs. Maynor Figueroa may be the only change, in for Erik Edman who had a torrid time against Aaron Lennon.
Jordi Gomez and Cho Won-Hee are available should Martinez wish to make further changes.
Bruce has welcomed the news that striker Darren Bent has a fighting chance of being fit for the weekend trip.
Michael Turner returns after serving a one-match suspension.
Possible starting XIs:
Wigan: Kirkland, Figueroa, Scharner, Bramble, Melchiot, Rodallega, Gomez, Diame, Thomas, N'Zogbia, Scotland.
Sunderland: Fulop, Richardson, Mensah, Turner, Bardsley, Reid, Cana, Henderson, Malbranque, Campbell, Bent.
