Latics skipper Mario Melchiot reckons Saturday's trip to Burnley is a far more important clash than last Sunday’s match with Manchester City.
Melchiot took great heart from his side’s performance against the Blues and he hopes they will take this into the match at Turf Moor.
He said: "Games against Burnley are bigger for us than ones against Manchester City.
"I say that because those are the games that we sometimes lose our focus on, and we need to show more respect to those kinds of opponents."
He added: "For my point of view, based on where I come from and the football career I have had, I know how it feels to play against big teams and I know how it feels to play against smaller teams, and my preparation is the same.
"You have to approach it that way as a team, and as long as we can do that we will go into
Saturday's game looking good.
"We know the atmosphere there is intimidating, but all the players here have either played for their countries or are used to playing in big games so it shouldn't be too much of a problem."
