Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has revealed that their bid for Andy Johnson failed because the striker did not want to move north.
It is understood that the Latics were hoping to secure a deal which would have seen Hugo Rodallega swapping with Johnson.
Whelan admitted that it was Johnson who pulled the plug on the deal.
"I've no idea why Johnson said no," Whelan revealed. "I think he didn't fancy coming north. It would have been a good deal for us, but that's football."
