Wigan Athletic are interested in Blackburn Rovers midfielder Keith Andrews.

The Mirror claims Latics boss Roberto Martinez is eyeing a shock move against relegation rivals Rovers.

The Republic of Ireland international is looking for a free transfer away from Rovers – where he has been a boo-boy target – and Latics are keen to bring him into their survival fight.

Martinez is discussing the cost of the package, with Andrews looking for around £1.2 million-a-year in wages, but is interested because there would be no fee involved.

Aston Villa are also keen on Andrews, who enjoyed a loan spell at Championship side Ipswich recently, but have yet to offer a contract.
