Preston North End begin life in League One with a home game against Colchester United on the opening day of the 2011/12 season.

Phil Brown, who could not prevent North End's relegation last term, will be hoping he can gain promotion back to the Championship at his first attempt.

North End follow up with trips to Scunthorpe United and Chesterfield.

Derbies against Oldham, Rochdale and Bury come in a busy period at the end of October and early November while they will be hoping to get some Christmas cheer by beating Carlisle at home on Boxing Day.

Their first game of 2012 sees them visit Spotland to face Rochdale and Brown will hoping that promotion is already secured by the time they visit Bournemouth on the final day of the season.

North End will also face Crewe Alexandra in the Carling Cup first round.
