Preston North End midfielder Barry Nicholson says he is 'hopeful' over a new contract.

The 32 year old signed for Preston in 2008 having spent the rest of his carear in Scotland.

Nicholson has been in good form scoring three goals in his last four North End starts and hopes to extend his current deal which runs out at the end of the season.

After the win over Swansea, Nicholson told a post match press conference:

"The manager has said to me the club are hoping to get something sorted.

"It will all depend on what division we are in, but I am happy.

"Let's hope we can get something sorted."
