Phil Brown has been appointed the new Preston North End manager.
The 51-year-old, who was also linked with jobs at Crystal Palace and Burnley has accepted the offer from North End chairman Maurice Lindsay.
Brown has been out of work since leaving Hull City last year, but he has now agreed to take charge at Deepdale. He takes over a club who lie rock bottom of the Championship, seven points from safety.
Brian Horton is excepted to join him as his assistant, and they will hope to get off to a winning start as they host Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.
Brown takes over from caretkaer boss David Unsworth who has taken charge of the last two games following the sacking of Darren Ferguson in late December.
