Preston North End are tracking Exeter City midfielder Liam Sercombe.
Sercombe has been earning rave reviews at Exeter this season and scouts have been a common seeing at St James Park as they cast an eye over the talented youngster.
The 20-year-old, who has come through the ranks at Exeter, has made over 80 appearances for the first team and he scored his first goal of the season in Exeter's win over Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.
A host of Premier League clubs including Wolves and Fulham are also thought to be keeping tabs on Sercombe, along with Championship side Reading and League One rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
Exeter are reluctant to let Sercombe leave, but they could face a battle to keep hold of the midfielder if an offer comes in for him that is too good to refuse during the January transfer window.
In other news, Preston North End defender Conor McLaughlin has signed a one-year contract extension keeping the Northern Ireland U21 international at Deepdale until 2013.
The 19-year-old told the club website: "I was quite surprised because I'm only a year into my current contract.
"I was just getting my head down and continuing to work hard."
