Preston North End manager Darren Ferguson believes his side would have beaten Burnley FC had the referee not sent off Billy Jones in the second half.
North End were 3-1 up and seemingly cruising to victory at Turf Moor.
But following Jones’s 78th minute dismissal, the Clarets struck three times to earn a famous victory.
Ferguson told BBC Sport: "I'm bitterly disappointed, we were in complete control of the game, we were the only team playing football and the referee's won it for Burnley.
"In all my time in football I have never seen a sending off for that - it was an absolute disgrace of a decision.
"The referee said he had warned him [Jones] three times. But then there was the tackle on Josh King in the first half which could have been a broken ankle, there was a foul on Sean St Ledger for the fourth goal, he lost control of the game.
"The referee has not done his job, when have you seen a sending off for that? He'll argue that he warned him.
"Up until then we were excellent, we played some great football. We had so many opportunities to score more."
