Preston North End are reportedly moving closer to signing former Norwich City midfielder Darel Russell.

Russell was first linked with North End after being spotted in the crowd during North End's defeat of Blackburn on Tuesday.

The midfielder has also been heavily linked with Leeds United but Preston boss Darren Ferguson has now confirmed talks are ongoing with the 29-year-old.

He made 271 appearances for the Canaries in two spells with the club after making his debut in 1998, including 39 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring twice.

Rob, you are deluded if you think Rusty would chose Leeds over PNE, he wants to go to a BIG club not one who will be in a relegation battle
