Preston North End midfielder Darren Carter's expected six-month loan move to Millwall FC appears to have hit the buffers.

The 26-year-old, who is on the transfer list at Deepdale, spent last week on trial with the Lions.

He took part in the friendly matches against Exeter and AFC Wimbledon.

However, Millwall manager Kenny Jackett has decided to look elsewhere and Carter is now set to return to Deepdale.
