Preston North End swoop for Stoke City defender

Preston North End have landed Stoke City defender Carl Dickinson.

North End boss Darren Ferguson fought off late competition from Sheffield United to sign the full-back.

Ferguson has completed a £750,000 deal for the defender who has returned from the Potters’ pre-season tour of Austria to sign for the Championship club.

Dickinson is believed to be reluctant to leave the Britannia Stadium but close to move it became clear his chances of first-team football were limited.
