Preston North End head Leeds United in race for Scunthorpe United ace

According to reports Preston North End are set to beat Championship rivals Leeds United to the signature of Scunthorpe United striker Gary Hooper.

It was widely believed that Hooper was heading to Leeds United but it seems North End have jumped ahead with a club-record bid of £1.5 million.

The 22-year-old has attracted a great deal of interest after having had an impressive season with Scunthorpe.

Along with North End and Leeds, Hooper has been linked with Celtic, Wolves, Middlesbrough and Burnley.
