Preston North End ensured ex-manager Billy Davies’ return to Deepdale was not a happy one as they beat Nottingham Forest 3-2.
Preston all but wrapped up the points in the opening half-an-hour with strikes from Ross Wallace, Callum Davidson and Matt James.
Dexter Blackstock and Robert Earnshaw pulled two goals back for the visitors.
Preston boss Darren Ferguson described the match as a classic tale of two halves.
"It was an unbelievable performance in the first half," he said.
"We didn't want half-time to come and it could have been more than three.
"But I was confident today and I'm not being arrogant.
"We've just annihilated a team who are third in the league.
"At home, if we are at it, we will give anybody a game."
