Preston North End manager boss Darren Ferguson felt weak refereeing was to blame for his side’s defeat to Newcastle United.

Ferguson took out his frustration at referee Andy Penn after watching his side lose 3-0 at St James’s Park.

"It was never a 3-0 game, that flatters Newcastle massively," he said.

"They will have a good chance of winning promotion if they get referees like they did today.

"You have to have strong referees, especially against Newcastle, and he wasn't strong enough, for me anyway.

"Overall I was pleased with the performance, if we play like that we'll be okay."

A manager called Ferguson moaning about referees to disguise his own team's obvious inadequacies? Surely not......where does he get it from?
