Graham Westley says he has the Chairman's support to stop the rot and turn Preston North End's failing League One campaign around.
The North End boss is still looking for his first win following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Yeovil.
The new man Westley, knows what lies in front of him and is determined to use his success at Stevenage as a building block to aid North End.
Westley said: “There is a rot which has set in, and my job is to stop the rot, to sort things out and change things around.
“I have built my career to date on driving teams forward and improving them, and I’ve no intention of stopping that now.
“It is difficult when you have a squad which you don’t know fully what you are learning about them and learning how they react to certain situations.
“But it is my job to quickly assess the squad and make the right decisions.
“When you have so many decisions to make, it is inevitable that you’ll get the odd one wrong.
“But I’m not too worried about the ones I get wrong, as long as I get more decisions right then we’ll move in the right direction.
“Everyone at this club knows it has been under-performing, everyone knows it has been in a bad place in terms of its performances on the pitch.
“This is a relegated club remember, and one which has been losing games this season.
“We have to turn that around, I have the support of the chairman to do that.
“The lads and lasses who went to Yeovil on Saturday will have got some encouragement from the reaction we got in the second half. I thought the team found a sense of purpose and stopped feeling sorry for itself.”
