Martinez wants Wigan to take home form on the road

Latics boss Roberto Martinez has called on his players to take their impressive home form to Premier League away grounds, starting at Burnley.

Wigan have turned the DW Stadium into a fortress with their weekend draw against Manchester City making it seven points from the last three home games.

However, their away record leaves much to be desired, no points since their opening-day triumph at Aston Villa.

Nevertheless, Martinez remains confident they can kick-start their away form at Turf Moor.

He told the Evening Post: "It is a tough place to visit, but we will have to be ready.

"The atmosphere at Turf Moor is very intimidating – the fans really get behind their team and they have a real momentum in the football club that is reflected in the players' efforts.

"Burnley had a very slow start to last season, but Owen Coyle turned it around on limited resources which was a great achievement. And the job he has done there speaks for itself."
