David Nugent has pledged to rekindle his career with Burnley, and has set his sights on scoring goals for The Clarets.
Nugent was in high demand when he made his £5m move from Preston to Portsmouth in 2007, but has since struggled to hold down a place in Pompey’s first team.
Nugent however, has vowed to make the most of his six-month loan spell with Burnley;
“Once you are a goalscorer I think you will always score goals and I believe I will. Hopefully I will get chances and stick them away.” Said Nugent.
"I haven't played much over the last two or three years and hopefully at Burnley I can start playing again and show people what I can do.
"It will be good to play a few games and hopefully prove a few people wrong. I can't wait to get started.
"At Portsmouth I had half-an-hour here or 20 minutes there and I don't think that's long enough. I have missed playing and hopefully I will get that Burnley.” He said.
Nugent also said he was glad to back in the north-west, and expressed his delight to be at Burnley;
“I'm delighted to be coming to a club that is doing well,” he said.
“I know a lot of people wrote Burnley off but they have started very well and hopefully I can come to the club and help carry that on and score a few goals and get them even further up the table.
"They have just come up and it's a club with ambition. I spoke to the manager and he sounded very ambitious about the club and the way he plays and that made the decision really. I can't wait to get started." He added.
The Liverpool born, Everton fan also admitted he can’t wait to run out at Anfield for The Clarets;
“When I heard there was an interest I looked at the fixtures and saw after the international break it was Liverpool at Anfield. I can't wait to get down there,
"I scored against them for Portsmouth and I would love to score against them again and keep Burnley flying."
