Burnley have completed a deadline deal to bring in Portsmouth striker David Nugent on loan.
Nugent, 24, has signed a six-month loan deal at Turf Moor, with a view to either a loan extension, or a permanent deal.
Nugent has struggled to maintain a regular place at Fratton Park, since his move in the summer of 2007, but Clarets boss Owen Coyle is excited with the signing;
“We have got someone with a fantastic pedigree and I am sure he will be a tremendous acquisition for the squad.” Said Coyle.
“Portsmouth paid £6m for him and I think we would recognise that it has been a bit stop-start for him and he wants to get his career up and running again.
“He also had two other options from Premier League clubs and came to Burnley, so we are delighted about that. We are delighted to have got a player of David's stature.” He added.
