Wanderers are reported to be preparing a shock bid for Newcastle United midfielder Kevin Nolan.
The Daily Mail says Gary Megson has asked The Magpies if he can take Nolan back to the Reebok Stadium on loan.
Bolton's boss sold the midfielder during the January transfer window for £4.5m but is keen to re-sign him if the Tyneside club want to improve their fnancial situation.
Nolan, who would be warmly welcomed by Bolton fans, currently earns £45,000-a-week and Newcastle's owners might wish to remove him from their balance sheet.
