Joleon Lescott’s move to Manchester City was finally completed last night.
The final fee is around £22m and is set to rise to £24m, making Lescott the third most expensive defender in history.
It is understood the 27 year old signed a five year deal and will earn
around £90,000 a week.
Lescott had made no secret of his desire to join Manchester City, after having a transfer request rejected by Blues boss David Moyes, on the eve of the new Premier League season.
The deal takes City’s summer spending to a mammoth £120m, after signing Gareth Barry, Carlos Tevez, Roque Santa Cruz, Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor already this summer.
Lescott could make his debut for Mark Hughes’ side at Portsmouth on Sunday.
