Coyle is learning from fellow Scots

His team may have beaten both Everton and Manchester United last week, but Burnley manager Owen Coyle admits he is still learning from both David Moyes and Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Claret’s enjoyed a sensational week in their first ever Premier League campaign picking up six points, but Coyle insists he’s glad to be learning from his compatriots;

“To be in this league, coming up against Sir Alex and David Moyes, and managers of that ilk I’m hopefully learning all the time.” Said Coyle.

The Scot also reserved praise for Moyes’ handling of Manchester City bound Joleon Lescott, in leaving him out of the side that beat Sigma

“Moyesy sent out a message in his handling of Lescott and his players responded (in beating Sigma 4-1 on Thursday.”

Asked if he would adopt a similar approach to management at the highest level, Coyle said he was more than happy to make tough decisions;

“If I’m leaving players out I’ll tell them beforehand. I make the decisions for the best of the team and everything will fall into place accordingly. My group of players know that and that’s why I think we enjoy working together.

“Ask the players if I have a hard streak in me, but making decisions doesn’t faze me because I make them honestly.”
