Burnley boss Owen Coyle has urged his players to up the tempo ahead of their final pre-season friendlies.
The Clarets will take on Kilmarnock on Thursday and St Johnstone this Saturday as part of the final preparations for the new season and after a draw with Lancashire rivals Accrington Stanley and a 2-1 defeat to Leeds United last weekend, the Scot is hoping that his squad will be quicker on the draw during their mini-tour of Scotland.
"We've done the longer fitness stuff, we'll look to add that sharpness and make sure we're ready to go," he said.
"We'll look to progress the speed and movement of the ball, which we didn't move quickly enough (against Leeds) if the truth be told.
"It looked laboured, although having said that I thought we looked a lot more energetic when the likes of Kevin McDonald and Richard Eckersley came on, and David Edgar. They did really well and we looked a lot more lively at that point, but we should be doing that from the outset of games.
"It seemed very one-paced. We're obviously known for our sharpness and movement, so that's what we'll look to increase now because we've got players like (Wade) Elliott, Chris Eagles and Robbie Blake when everything's sharp.
"We've worked hard for the last few weeks, now's the time to add that sharpness, and if we do that it will stand us in good stead.
He added: "We've said before, results in pre-season aren't important - far from it - but it's always nice when you do get them along with performances. We got neither (on Saturday).
"There's plenty to work on, but that's what we like doing. We've got a tremendous work ethic and we'll make sure we get on the training ground and work our socks off to rectify those things. That's the purpose of pre-season."
