Manchester City are closing in on a £16m deal for Arsenal's Kolo Toure.
City have boosted their attack this summer with the arrivals of Roque Santa Cruz, Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor, but are now looking to stengthen their defence with the pursuit of the Ivory Coast international.
It is understood Toure is due to have talks with City boss Mark Hughes in the coming days.
Toure has been a target for City in January after his transfer request was rejected by Arsenal.
City have targeted a top class defender all summer, with interest in Everton's Joleon Lescott and Chelsea and England captain John Terry both coming to nothing.
However, It now looks like City have found their man, as they continue their extensive rebuilding program.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was asked on Monday about Toure's future, he replied;
"I don't know. We'll see what's happening in the next 24 hours."
