Michael Owen has today spoken of his 'hunger' to succeed at Manchester United.
Owen – who will wear United's iconic number 7 shirt next season – told of his desire to once again prove himself as one of the deadliest finishers in England as well as Europe.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Sir Alex Ferguson, Owen said;
“I am hungry to do well and if this challenge doesn't create a hunger and put a spring in your step and a smile on your face then nothing will,”
Owen signed for United last week after leaving Newcastle United on a free transfer, and was quick to re-affirm his belief in his own abilities. Said Owen;
“I honestly believe I can still do well in a top team like Manchester United.”
Owen's new boss was also keen to highlight his skills.
“His experience is vital and with Michael you will see the experience he will give us in penalty box. There is no question he will score a lot of goals for us and he has been great for years and years,” stated Ferguson.
