Bamber Bridge went down 4-2 to local rivals AFC Fylde in a six goal encounter at the QED stadium on Saturday.
There was little to separate the two sides at half time, after Chris Marlow had fired Brig ahead after just seven minutes before Fylde’s equaliser from full back Ryan Elderton thirteen minutes later.
The second half saw more of the same, with very little between two youthful sides. However Brig regained their lead on 56 minutes when a Chris Thompson corner was rifled home by Chris Brown.
The goal galvanised the home side who took control of affairs but were caught out on 65 minutes when Fylde broke away for the second time and equalised when a speculative long shot by Jason Dodwell drifted in at the far post.
Brig got caught napping once again in the 81st minute when the visitors took the lead for the first time. Former Brig man Mark Wane set up substitute Matt Walwyn who found himself in plenty of space at the back post to place his shot in the far corner.
Brig fought hard to get back on level terms but with seconds remaining on the clock they conceded a fifth when Wane was taken down and awarded a penalty. Joe Booth made no mistake from the spot.
