Accrington Stanley have secured Scotland under-21 international Alan Martin on a half-season loan.

The goalkeeper will be with the Accies until 1 January 2010 - ironically the date of his 21st birthday - after John Coleman showed his interest in bringing the player to the Fraser Eagle Stadium.

Martin, who arrived at Elland Road in 2007 from Motherwell, spent most of last season with Blue Square Premier Division side Barrow.

Whites manager Simon Grayson agreed to the move in the hope that it will give the youngster the chance to gain valuable experience he will be restricted to at the League One outfit following the arrival of Shane Higgs from Cheltenham Town.

"With Casper and Shane competing, we feel this is an opportunity for Alan to gain more experience and, hopefully, play regular senior football", he said.
