Burnley FC will be hoping for good news when Chris McCann has a scan to establish the cause of a troublesome knee problem.
McCann will miss tomorrow's opening game with Nottingham Forest at Turf Moor having suffered a clash of knees in Singapore against Gombak.
He missed the last four games of pre-season and is set to undergo a scan to ascertain the extent of the injury.
Laws said: "Chris McCann is still nursing his knee.
"He was having a great pre-season, he looked in fantastic condition and looked as fit as anybody in the camp.
"He played against Burnley and Oldham and started the first game in Singapore, but he took an innocuous challenge and it's just been something we're concerned with.
"We want to get a second opinion before we do anything with him.
"He has been training.
"Not with the team but on his own because we didn't want him to have any impact on his knee.
"We will make sure, absolutely, where he is and what decisions we're going to make.
"The lad's in good spirits.
"He's disappointed he's got a bit of an injury that's annoying him more than anything else, but we'll assess it.
"Probably by next week we'll have a clearer picture of where we are with him.
"He's due to see a specialist and we also want to be sure for our own piece of mind to have a second opinion as well to make sure we cover every angle, just so it satisfies the player that when he does come back in, he's ready."
