Burnley FC boss Brian Laws is believed to be in talks with Sheffield Wednesday to bring keeper Lee Grant to Turf Moor.
The Clarets chief is understood to have lodged a bid in the region of £1 million.
It now seems a matter of the two clubs coming to an agreement as it is reckoned personal terms will not be an issue.
Grant is said to have had an excellent relationship with his ex-Hillsborough boss Laws and goalkeeper coach Billy Mercer, who now forms part of the backroom team at Turf Moor.
After taking up residence at Turf Moor, Laws sought to quell speculation he would raid his former club.
However, Grant is a player he has always admired.
Back then Laws said: “People will assume that I’m going to go to my former club. It’s not necessarily the case.
“That’s not to take away from the fact that I’ve got a lot of time for Granty.
“I think he’s a fantastic goalkeeper and I know that they want to hang on to him very much.
“Time will tell whether we go back to the club, but we’ve got other targets in mind.”
