Burnley FC manager Brian Laws was happy to get a point at home against Stoke City after they found themselves down after 23 minutes.

The Clarets fought back after Tuncay Sanli’s first half goal to equalise through David Nugent seven minutes after the break with the match ending 1-1.

Laws was delighted with the performance of his team after things didn’t really go their way early on.

“It was a terrific game, particularly in the second half the tempo of the game was electric and that is the type of performance we have to put in," Laws told Sky Sports .

"I thought the players were magnificent, in particular after the slow start and Stoke getting the goal from the notorious long throw, but we responded well.

"There was a bit of head-tennis in the first half and we got dragged in. But in the second half I thought we dominated and started to play the football we are capable of.

“We had chances to put the ball into the net and it was a great response."
